What is A2P 10DLC?
A2P stands for Application-to Person while 10DLC stands for 10-digit long code which is the format for phone numbers in the United States.
A2P 10DLC is the standard that has been put into place by telecommunication companies (such as T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, etc.) which allows businesses to send text messages to their customers through an application like GoSite. This standard is meant to prevent fraudulent messaging activity such as SPAM or phishing.
How does this work?
Applications like GoSite have a phone number assigned to each customer. This allows a text message to be sent from inside the app via the phone lines to a cell phone on the other end. It's not that different from when you send a text message to your friends or family using the built in messaging app on your phone (like iMessage). Applications like GoSite make it easy for you to communicate via text message with your customers from inside of the GoSite software or App. The message you create from inside GoSite is converted to a standard text message using a unique phone number assigned to your GoSite account. This assigned phone number is what needs to be registered.
How does this affect your business?
Customers will need their businesses to be registered for this standard to continue to make use of the functions of GoSite which leverage text messaging. Remaining unregistered means messages you send from GoSite to your customers' cell phones (text messages) may be rejected by the cellular carriers. Unregistered businesses will lower the chances of messages being delivered which means the texts you send to your customers might not be received. This could affect leads and confirmed jobs coming in. Being registered allows your messages to be more trusted to recipients that consent to receiving the messages.
Do I have to register?
We highly recommend all businesses confirm their information with our team so we can get you registered. If you aren't registered, messages, review requests, invoices, and other text-message dependent functions of your account may be affected.
Is this just a GoSite thing?
No, it isn't. This standard is enforced by US cell phone carriers such as T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. All software that provide users a way to send text messages from within the application are subject to these standards.
What are the next steps?
GoSite is here to help you through this process. We need to confirm some information from you. Once we've received that confirmation, we'll take it from there.
If you purchased GoSite before the end of June, 2023, we will send customers an email with a link to a form to complete. Please complete this form as soon as possible. GoSite will then work to get the registration completed for you.
If you haven't received the email with instructions to get registered, please contact us at help@gosite.com.
