Google My Business integrates with your Placement tool and allows you to manage your Google page from GoSite. This article will provide you with steps and resources for creating and verifying a Google My Business page.

Creating a Google My Business Account

  1. Click "Sign In" and sign in with your Google account.

Don't have a Google account? Click the "Create account" button to set one up.

  2. Once you are signed in, click the "Add Business" button.

  3. Select "Add single business."

  4. Type your business name into the next page

  5. If your business does not appear in your search, select "Create a business with this name."

    Note:

    • If your business shows up in the search results on the page pictured above this means a Google My Business account has already been created for your business and you will need to request access via Google. If you need help gaining access to a Google My Business page you didn't create, check out Google's Support article about requesting ownership of a business profile.

    • If your business has multiple locations and you are creating a separate Google My Business page for each you must ensure that, out of the business name, address, and phone number, two of these three criteria are different from one another.

  6. If you are creating a new page, follow the prompts to fill out your business information.

  7. When you reach the "Verify" stage (see image below), enter your business address.

    Note:

    • When you are at this stage Google will sometimes offer the ability to verify by phone.

    • Important: Google will not accept a P.O. box as an address. You must give a physical address. If you are using a private address that you don't want to be visible to the public you can check the box to hide the address.

  8. After you enter your address you will be prompted to choose a way to verify your address. Enter your name and click "Mail." Google will send you a verification postcard to the address you provided.

Verifying Your Google My Business page

After you receive your verification postcard from Google, follow the below steps to finish verifying your page:

  1. Log back into business.google.com.

  2. If you have multiple businesses associated with your Google account, select the location you would like to verify.

  3. You can either click "Get Verified" from the menu on the left, or "Enter Verification Code" from the main page (see image below).

  4. Enter the 5-digit verification code from the postcard.

  5. Click "Verify."

  6. A "Pending" status means your verification is still under review. You will know your page is verified and live when the status is "Verified" and you can click "View on Search," "View on Maps," and "Share your Business Profile."
